How Hawai'i Reps. Neil Abercrombie and Mazie Hirono and Sens. Daniel Akaka and Daniel K. Inouye voted in key legislation last week.

    KEY HOUSE VOTES

    1. Economic Stimulus

The House voted, 385-35, on Tuesday to pass a $145.9 billion economic stimulus bill to assist the failing economy. The measure would send a $600 check to most taxpayers with a cap for those individuals making more than $75,000 or couples making more than $150,000.

    KEY SENATE VOTES

There were no key Senate votes this week.

    WHAT'S AHEAD

The Senate will resume debate on an overhaul of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act before moving to competing economic stimulus packages. One already has passed the House while the other is a Senate version. The House will be working on renewing the Higher Education Act, which would raise the amount of Pell Grant awards.
