Training to stem tenant crimes set

The state Department of the Attorney General and other government officials are promoting a training program to help rental property owners and managers prevent illegal tenant activity.

The nationally recognized program is being offered later this month on four islands with assistance from the Hawai'i Association of Realtors.

Program topics include methods to discourage and combat drug activities and other crime in rental property.

A $32 registration fee includes lunch and a manual with references.

The training runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be presented on:

  • The Big Island on Feb. 21 at Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa;

  • Kaua'i on Feb. 22 at the Kaua'i Marriott Resort & Beach Club;

  • Maui on Feb. 25 at the Maui Prince Hotel;

  • O'ahu on Feb. 26 at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i.
