A&B Foundation donates $250K for BIA training center

The Alexander & Baldwin Foundation and Kukui'ula Development Co. have awarded a $250,000 grant to support the Building Industry Association of Hawaii's capital campaign for its new $7.75 million building to be named The Construction Training Center of the Pacific.
Kukui'ula Development is a joint venture company funded in significant part by Alexander & Baldwin. Alexander & Baldwin Foundation & Kukui'ula Development are among the largest donors to the campaign, which so far has raised $5,500,000.
"Building and maintaining a strong and skilled construction workforce is key to our state's future economic health," said A & B Foundation President Meredith Ching. "The establishment of the Construction Training Center of the Pacific is an exciting step towards achieving that goal, and we are pleased to partner with the Hawaii Building Industry Foundation to provide educational and training opportunities, at home, to help foster a sustainable future for the development and construction industries in Hawaii."
The new 17,000 square foot Construction Training Center of the Pacific will be located in Waipahu.
