UH symposium focuses on Palestine

A three-week symposium, "Who are the Palestinians? Understanding the Nakba," will include several events at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa:

-- English department colloquium with Jess Ghannam on "Orientalizing Palestine and the Arab World: Narratives of Self-Determination, Freedom and Internal De-Colonization," 3 p.m. March 11 at Kuykendall 410.

-- The film, "Occupation 101," screens at 2:30 p.m. March 12 at St. John Auditorium.

-- A divestment workshop with George Hudes and Noel Kent, 6:15 p.m. March 12, HIG110 Auditorium.

-- The film, "Searching for Peace in the Middle East," with panel discussion by Farideh Farhi, Ibrahim Aoude and Jess Ghannam, 4:30 p.m. March 13, HIG110 Auditorium (reception follows).
