Coast Guard transports injured seaman to Oahu

Advertiser Staff

The Coast Guard today completed a medical evacuation mission involving the transport of a 25-year-old crewman from a vessel 80 miles north of O'ahu at 10:50 a.m.

The injured crewman from the 789-foot Republic of Marshall Island vessel "Cma Cgm Purple" is hospitalized at The Queen's Medical Center. His condition is unknown.

The ship's captain contacted Coast Guard rescue coordinators by e-mail at about 11 a.m. yesterday to report the crewman's injuries, which he suffered when the ship was 600 miles away from O'ahu.
