Hawaii residents donated phones, Verizon Wireless says

Hawai'i residents and businesses donated more than 5,200 old and no-longer used cell phones in 2007 to Verizon Wireless's HopeLine recycling and reuse program, the company said.
The program benefits domestic violence prevention and awareness programs. In Hawai'i, Verizon Wireless donated more than $100,000 in HopeLine grants and wireless phones with airtime to local domestic violence programs, the company said.
