Presidential election takes center stage at Maui college

The 2008 presidential election is the focus of a series of events at Maui Community College, starting today with a forum for the Democratic candidates.
Representatives for Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama will discuss the candidates' platforms on domestic and foreign issues at 12:30 p.m. in Hale 218.
A Republican forum featuring representatives for John McCain, Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul will be next Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. in Hale 218. Right afterward, students will plug into a nationwide "Focus the Nation" teleconference on U.S. energy policies.
On Tuesday, students will march on campus to draw attention to various issues before heading to Democratic caucus locations. At 6:30 p.m., the behind-the-scenes campaign documentaries "Journeys with George" and "The War Room" will be shown in Kalama 104-B.
Voter registration will be conducted at each event.
