LIHU'E, Hawai'i — Ocean Safety officials on Kaua'i are coping with some high surf and strong currents from the island's North Shore to Polihale.
Kaua'i Fire Chief Robert Westerman has issued a warning.
He recommends that beachgoers not go into the water in those areas.
He says other beaches with county lifeguards are safer.
For current conditions, he suggests calling the county's Ocean Safety Bureau at 808-241-6506.
