Philadelphia man dies at Kauai's Kipu Falls

A 30-year-old male visitor from Philadelphia died today after a dive at Kipu Falls near Puhi in East Kaua'i.
According to witnesses, the man jumped off the top of the rock wall falls and into the pool at about 12:30 p.m. The plunge is about 20 feet.
Shortly after surfacing in pool, he appeared to be in distress, the witnesses said.
A bystander attempted to help but was unable to reach the victim before he went under, county officials said.
Firefighters and rescue specialists from the Lihu'e Fire Station responded and found the man at the bottom of the pond.
