HILO — The state Department of Transportation advises Big Island motorists that West Puainako Street will be closed in both directions between Iwalani Street and Kuhilani Street from 7 a.m. Saturday through noon Sunday for road surface repairs.

These repairs will require a 24-hour closure to allow concrete materials adequate time to cure. Electronic signs and police officers will be on site directing traffic around the work area.

Motorists are advised to use caution while driving near the work area and to allow for extra travel time.
