NEW YORK — Wall Street has finished mixed as lackluster economic reports offered investors little incentive to place big bets ahead of a long weekend.
Disappointing data on manufacturing, consumer confidence and import prices reminded investors on Friday that the economy is struggling. As a result, a week that began with a rally closed on a subdued note.
At the close, the Dow Jones industrial average was down about 30 points at the 12,348 level, according to preliminary calculations. The blue-chip index ended the week with a gain of about 1.36 percent.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index finished up a point at approximately 1,350.
