'Stormy Weather in Space' topic of Maui talk tonight

University of Hawai'i astronomer Ilia Roussev will give a talk on "Stormy Weather in Space" at 6:30 p.m. today as part of the Maui Maikalani Community Lecture sponsored by the UH Institute for Astronomy.
Roussev, an expert in computational modeling of the solar atmosphere and solar wind, will discuss scientists' current understanding of space weather and attempts to forecast it.
He obtained a master's degree in physics and astronomy from Sofia University in his native Bulgaria in 1995 and his doctorate in physics from the Queen's University at Belfast in 2001. Prior to joining the Institute for Astronomy in 2006, Roussev worked at the High Altitude Observatory in Boulder, Colo., and at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
The lecture series is taking place at Maikalani, also known as the Advanced Technology Research Center, at 34 'Ohi'a Ku St., above Kamehameha Schools in the Kulamalu Town Center in Pukalani, Maui. For a map, go to www.ifa.hawaii.edu/maps/Maui-ATRC.html.
