Measles diagnosed in Honolulu resident

Advertiser Staff

An adult resident who returned to Honolulu from Europe, via San Francisco, has been diagnosed with measles, the state Department of Health reported today.

The unidentified traveler returned on Feb. 5 and "was highly contagious" from Feb. 6 through Thursday, health officials said.

They warned that anyone who develops an illness within 18 days after being exposed to measles should know that their illness may be measles.

The case comes after a 10-month-old baby was diagnosed with measles after flying from San Diego to Honolulu on Feb. 8.

Health officials notified 250 passengers aboard the flight that they may have been exposed to measles.

Many of the passengers flew here to attend the Pro Bowl.
