Big waves expected on Oahu's north, west shores

The National Weather Service has a high-surf advisory in effect today for north- and west-facing shores of O'ahu, Kaua'i, Maui and Ni'ihau.
Meteorologist Ian Morrison said surf will start to rise between mid and late morning today and hit the 10- to 15-feet range on north-facing shores and 6 feet to 12 feet on west-facing shores in the afternoon.
Beachgoers are advised to exercise caution.
