Firefighters bring out injured Windward Oahu hiker

Advertiser Staff

Honolulu Fire Department rescue specialists today successful brought out an injured hiker from Maunawili Falls in Windward O'ahu.

HFD spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig said a 15-year-old girl slipped and fell on the rocks. The girl's injuries were not serious but prevented her from hiking out, Seelig added.

HFD's helicopter, Rescue 1 unit and a company from the Olomana station responded at 2:15 p.m.

Firefighters hiked in and packaged the injured girl for transport out by the helicopter.

Emergency Medical Services personnel took the girl to The Queen's Medical Center at about 3 p.m.
