Advertiser Staff

A dozen road improvement projects will get under way again today, the State Transportation Department said.

In these areas, be prepared for slow traffic.

  • Pu'uloa Road between Kamehameha Highway and Salt Lake Boulevard, various lane closures, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Roadside parking will not be permitted and shoulder lanes will be closed in both directions. A modified traffic pattern will be in effect and only one lane will open on Mokumoa Street between Pu'uloa Road and Mapunapuna Street for drainage work so no large vehicles will be allowed in area.

  • Fort Weaver Road north-bound from A'awa Drive to the Honouliuli Stream bridge in 'Ewa will have single-lane closures from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. daily for construction of roadside drainage systems.

  • Likelike Highway in Kalihi will have single-lane closures daily from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The left Honolulu-bound lane over the Kalihi Stream bridge between Kono Street and Gulick Avenue and right Kane'ohe-bound lane near Valley View Drive will be closed during that period for roadside tree trimming.

  • Kamehameha Highway's south-bound traffic between Mililani and Wheeler Army Air Field will be contraflowed using the north-bound lanes between Lehua Road and Waikalani Drive from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

Also, 24-hour lane closures will be in effect in the right north-bound lane between Lehua Road and Kahelu Avenue, and left and right south-bound lanes between Santos Dumont Avenue and Waihau Street for shoulder widening and curb construction work.

  • Kamehameha Highway near Pearl Harbor will have single-lane closures in both directions between McGrew Loop and Center Drive daily from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for lane striping, marker installation and guardrail repairs.

  • Kamehameha Highway between Kuala Street in Pearl City to Honomanu Street/McGrew Loop in 'Aiea will have rolling lane closures daily from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for pothole patching.

  • Kalaniana'ole Highway at the Keolu Drive intersection will have a right-lane closure in the Waimanalo direction from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily for drainage improvements and excavation work.

  • Kahekili Highway between Kulukeoe Street and Ha'iku Road will be closed in both directions from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of concrete barriers and water-line adjustments. Work will also include installation of landscaped planter boxes on the median divider, 19 roadside vine planter boxes, construction of accessible curb ramps and the resurfacing of highway lanes.

  • Farrington Highway in Waialua and between Nanakuli and Makaha will have single-lane closures daily from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The work in Waialua from Kaena Point to Kaukonahua Road involves lane striping and marker installations. The project from Haleakala Avenue in Nanakuli to Lawaia Street in Makaha includes electrical pole replacements, and installations of water mains, communication lines and manholes.

  • H-1 Freeway between the Kunia and Makakilo interchanges will have single-lane closures for lane striping. One west-bound lane will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. today and Thursday, and one east-bound lane Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
