Kaua'i's Department of Water will begin replacing all its water meters in mid-March, officials announced today.

The move to enhance customer service and increase meter-reading efficiency is expected to be completed by September 2009, according to officials.

Illinois-based Professional Meters Inc. has been contracted to implement the replacement program. The meter change will involve a shutdown of water service for approximately 20 minutes, officials said.
