Nominees for Hawaii boards, commissions announced

Gov. Linda Lingle today announced 160 nominees to serve on various state boards and commissions.

All of the nominees are being reappointed to serve new terms, with the appointments subject to confirmation by the State Senate.

In addition to the nominees for boards and commissions, three individuals appointed by the governor to serve as directors of a department and key agencies are also going through the Senate confirmation process.

They include Brennon Morioka, interim director, Department of Transportation; Abbey Seth Mayer, director, Office of Planning; and Katherine Kealoha, director, Office of Environmental Quality Control.

Nearly 1,300 people statewide serve on more than 160 boards and commissions that are established by the state constitution, state statutes or executive orders.
