Boome to rescue kitchen klutzes

If you're the sort of cook who can't tell a skillet from a saucepan, Food Network is ready to rescue you. In March, the network will launch a new show, "Rescue Chef," aimed at helping home cooks muddle their way through culinary conundrums, such as how to turn out perfect short ribs or shrimp pad Thai. The show's host, Danny Boome, visits viewers kitchens and walks them through their mealtime struggles.
In the premiere episode, which airs March 1, the engaging and relaxed Boome helps a teacher recreate the slow-cooked short ribs that were served at her wedding. The show will air on Saturdays; check local listings for times.

'DINNER IMPOSSIBLE' AIRS ISLE SHOW
The Islands and our own Sam Choy are featured tonight in an episode of "Dinner Impossible," in which celebrity chef Robert Irvine is challenged to create a lu'au from scratch in just eight hours. Should be interesting: Most of us couldn't do that even if we were making the laulau in the pressure cooker and the kalua pig in the oven, as well as buying the poi in the supermarket. And Irvine had to use an imu pit and pound the poi himself!
The Hawai'i Visitors and Convention Bureau spent eight months wooing Food Network to bring the TV show here. See how it all plays out at 8 tonight on the Food Network.
