Rain over Maui moving toward Big Island

The storm front that dumped rain on Kauai and Oahu yesterday is decaying over Maui this morning and is slowly making its way the Big Island, the National Weather Service said.

The front is bringing some clouds and showers with it.

Trade winds are still expected to return Tuesday through Thursday. The latest forecast also calls for the possibility of light snow atop Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, but little accumulation. Today: Isolated showers before noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 80. North wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 63. Northeast wind around 7 mph.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 80. Southwest wind around 10 mph.

Tuesday Night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 64. Northeast wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Wednesday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 79. Southwest wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 66. East wind around 11 mph.

Thursday: Isolated showers after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 80. East wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Thursday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 66. East wind around 10 mph.

Friday: A 20 percent chance of showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 80. East wind around 11 mph.
