USC starting linebacker Kaluka Maiava, a Baldwin High alum from Wailuku, Maui, will miss spring practice next month because he will undergo wrist surgery, according to a story at the Los Angeles Daily News Web site.
Maiava injured his wrist in November and then broke his thumb in the Rose Bowl against Illinois.
USC opens spring practice March 25.
