Surfer rescued at Mokuleia dies at hospital

A 33-year-old male surfer brought to shore unconscious today at "Silva's Channel" in Mokuleia died at Wahiawa General Hospital.
Honolulu Emergency Services spokesman Bryan Cheplic confirmed the death.
Honolulu Fire Department responded to a surfer-in-distress call at 3:15 p.m. and the surfer was already on shore with CPR being performed when units arrived, said HFD spokesman Capt. Earle Kealoha.
According to police, the man was surfing with friends who saw him floating in surf 6 to 8 feet and brought him to shore.
The man died at about 4 p.m.
