TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"American Idol" (Fox) or "Survivor" (CBS), both 7 p.m. For "Idol" fans, last Thursday's results brought no thunder shocks of surprise. Two teens — Colton Berry and Garrett Haley — were ousted. They never had a chance, in a year when some cute teens (David Archuleta, Danny Noriega) also have talent. Also out were Amy Davis and Joanne Borgella. Davis did her best with a 48-year-old pop song; Borgella sang well but had little camera time. "Survivor," by comparison, keeps surprising. Last week, the "fans" upset the "favorites," with Cyrie Fields — the "favorites" swing vote — insisting that Yau-Man Chan be voted out. Tonight, it's one more ouster for "Survivor," four for "Idol."

"Lost," 8 p.m., ABC. Last week's episode (repeating at 7 p.m.) had surprises about Kate and the child she'll be raising in the future. It also brought doubts about the helicopter taking Sayid and Desmond to the freighter. Tonight, we see what happened.

OF NOTE

"A Man for All Seasons" (1966), 3 p.m., Turner Classic Movies. Nearing the end of its Oscar month, TCM has a classic. Robert Bolt wrote a powerful play about a real-life ethical dilemma, then adapted it. Fred Zinnemann directed a superb cast that included Paul Scofield, Orson Welles and Vanessa Redgrave. There were Oscars for Scofield, Bolt, Zinnemann, the movie and more.

"My Name is Earl," 7 p.m., NBC. This repeats the hour in which "Cops" visited town. Earl watches from jail.

"Celebrity Apprentice," 8 p.m., NBC. Last week brought extreme opposites during home-shopping bits. It was a hyper Marilu Henner and a laid-back Trace Adkins. He won; she was fired. Tonight, both teams prepare a four-page magazine spread for a yogurt body wash. One side tries a sexy approach.

"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," 8 p.m., CBS. This reruns the episode in which Sara was doubting her future as a crime-scene investigator.

"Without a Trace," 9 p.m., CBS. In a rerun, a woman disappears shortly after visiting an inmate. Investigators suspect this may involve her own criminal past.

"Lipstick Jungle," 9:01 p.m., NBC. Promoting a classy movie that lacks mass appeal, Wendy plans a big premiere. She asks her friend Victory to design a star's clothes.

"Eli Stone," 9:02 p.m., ABC. It was dangerous for Eli to break up with the boss' daughter. Now she has joined the firm. Meanwhile, Eli tries to reverse his past victory over an automaker.
