'Swords remain perfect in PacWest

Rodrick Johnson had 27 points and 10 rebounds, helping Chaminade to a 66-58 victory over Notre Dame de Namur last night at McCabe Gym, keeping the Silverswords unbeaten in the Pacific West Conference.

Marko Kolaric added 13 points and 15 rebounds, and Stewart Kussler had 10 points and eight boards for the Silverswords, who improved to 11-4 overall and 6-0 in conference.

Chaminade outrebounded the Argonauts (4-8, 0-4) from Belmont, Calif., 47-24. The Silverswords also had an advantage at the free-throw line, making 21 of 28 attempts, while Notre Dame de Namur made just 4 of 7 attempts.

GRAND CANYON 88, HAWAI'I-HILO 81

Milee Karre scored 16 points to lead four teammates in double figures, and the Antelopes (9-5, 4-4) made 18 of 25 free throw attempts in the second half to hold of the Vulcans (7-5, 3-2) at Hilo civic on the Big Island.

Rudy Bogan added 13 points, David Gonzales 13, and Brandon Dempster and Andray Glenn each had 11 for Grand Canyon.

Vince Alvarado scored 21 points, John Smith 19. Perry Baggett 12, Jay De Maestri 13 and Jacob Briggs 10 for UHH.

PACWEST WOMEN

HAWAI'I-HILO 83, GRAND CANYON 77

Sheila Azevedo had 20 points and 11 rebounds, leading the Vulcans (5-6, 5-0) past the Antelopes (5-6, 5-2) at Hilo civic on the Big Island.

Nesha Kimitete added 16 points and Jessica Hanato and Samantha Nordstrom each had 13 for UHH, which rallied from a 46-41 halftime deficit. Rosalyn Nelson scored 22 points and Sara Dalgliesh had 21 points and 11 rebounds for Grand Canyon.

NOTRE DAME DE NAMUR 78, CHAMINADE 55

Ashley Wilson hit six 3-pointers en route to 21 points, Jennifer Dreessen added 14 and the Argonauts (2-10, 2-2) took a 44-23 halftime lead and were never threatened by the Silverswords (0-13, 0-6) at McCabe Gym.

The Antelopes made 11 of 21 3-pointer attempts and 19 of 28 free throws. Katherine Carlisle scored 15 to lead Chaminade, which made just 9 of 20 free throws.
