HAWAI'I KAI
Views sought on Ka Iwi vacation cabin proposal

Advertiser Staff

The Hawai'i Kai Neighborhood Board is soliciting community input on several important issues to be discussed at a meeting Tuesday.

The board will hear testimony on a proposal to build 181 vacation cabins on two Ka Iwi Coast hillside properties that are zoned for preservation.

Members also will consider and possibly take action on developer QRM's proposal to develop only one of the properties and deed the other to a nonprofit or other entity in exchange for community support, said neighborhood board chair Greg Knudsen. The new proposal initially was presented at a special Jan. 8 public meeting.

Also on the agenda will be changes to the East O'ahu bus route that took effect Dec. 2, a proposed sewer rate increase for the area and the city's curbside recycling program in Hawai'i Kai.

The meeting will start at 7 p.m. in the Haha'ione Elementary School cafeteria, 595 Pepe'ekeo St.
