PORT ANGELES, Wash. — A man who took some of the first pictures of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor has died.
Lee Embree's wife, Vee, said he died Thursday in his sleep at home in Port Angeles, apparently of natural causes. He was 92.
Embree was an Army staff sergeant aboard a B-17 from California that flew into Hawai'i on Dec. 7, 1941, when he snapped photos of the attack.
The Museum of Flight in Seattle recently opened a display on Embree and his photos. He also was featured in a KCTS-TV perspective of Pacific Northwest veterans of World War II.
