Kauai man killed in 4-car crash near golf course

A 35-year-old Kaua'i man was killed and his wife seriously injured in a four-car crash near the Wailua Golf Course on Kaua'i yesterday afternoon.
The accident occurred about 3:15 p.m. near the golf course, said county spokeswoman Mary Daubert.
The accident apparently happened when a tire blew off a southbound pickup truck, causing it fall on its side. Three other vehicles, including the truck driven by the man who died, then became involved in the accident.
Police did not say how many people were injured.
The accident closed Kuhio Highway between South Leho Drive and Marine Camp Road for more than four hours.
