CHINESE NEW YEAR
HONG KONG HARBOR VIEW OFFERS A FEAST
Hong Kong Harbor View Seafood Restaurant is offering a "Year of the Rat" 10-course banquet menu for $268 — enough to feed 10 guests. Chef Chih-Chieh Chang (whose cuisine wowed diners at the now closed Shanghai Bistro) has devised a spread that includes both traditional dishes (jai, steamed whole fish, Peking duck) and more inventive ideas (Hawaiian prawns with coconut and dry garlic, Thai-style tenderloin steak with curry sauce). His signature lap xuong fried rice is included, as is traditional gau.
The menu can be ordered in advance now through Feb. 10. On the official Chinese New Year's day, Feb. 7, there will be lion dancing and firecrackers at 7 p.m. (be sure to bring your li see money gifts to appease the lion!). If a banquet isn't in our future, the restaurant also serves early-bird dim sum 10 to 11 a.m. daily, $1.95 each. Reservations: 566-9989.
