U.S. women stop Turkey, gain World Grand Prix volleyball finals

The United States women's national volleyball team used 21 blocks to defeat Turkey, 25-16, 25-20, 20-25, 25-17, today in Chinese Taipei to clinch a spot in the final round of the FIVB World Grand Prix.
Team USA (7-1) has one match remaining in the preliminary round against Italy tomorrow. The final round is Wednesday to next Sunday in Yokohama, Japan.
Tayyiba Haneef-Park led the U.S. with 19 points via 16 kills on 33 swings, two aces and a block.
Kim Willoughby, a University of Hawai'i alum, had six kills, four blocks and an ace for 11 points to go with seven digs and a team-high eight excellent service receptions on 35 attempts. Heather Bown, another UH alum, contributed seven points with three kills and four blocks.
Setter Robyn Ah Mow-Santos, a McKinley High and UH alum, had an ace to go with 19 assists.
