Baseball: Diamondbacks place RHP Cruz on 15-day DL
Associated Press
PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks placed right-hander Juan Cruz on the 15-day disabled list today with a strained left oblique muscle.
Cruz threw three pitches to Adrian Gonzalez in the ninth inning of Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Padres before leaving the game. Tony Pena relieved Cruz and immediately surrendered a home run to Gonzalez.
Cruz is 2-0 with 3.23 ERA in 30 2-3 innings in 37 games for the Diamondbacks.
Arizona recalled right-hander Connor Robertson from Triple-A Tucson to take Cruz's roster spot. Robertson made his season debut Tuesday, allowing one run and two hits over three innings, and pitched again Thursday but was optioned to Tucson on Friday.
