City lifeguards and firefighters today assisted an injured teenager at Makapu'u.

Two lifeguards on jet-skis responded to area of the tide pools below the lighthouse to provide medical attention to the teen. Firefighters hiked in to provide additional medical assistance and took the teen and two others to Sandy Beach where Emergency Medical Services personnel were standing by.

The teen was taken to an undisclosed hospital with serious injuries, city Emergency Services Department spokesman Bryan Cheplic said.
