Weeklong road closures scheduled on Maui

BIG ISLAND Contra-flow Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) near Honoka‘a, from Pa‘auhau to Papalele (Mile Point 39.6 to Mile Point 41.6); intermittent single-lane closures for guardrail and shoulder improvements. 24-hour closure of the northbound lane on the Hakalau Bridge continues for bridge repairs near Hakalau Bay (Mile Point 15.54); traffic will be contraflowed in the remaining lane. Temporary traffic signals are in operation directing traffic flow through the area. Sunday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) in Kona from the Pu‘u Wa‘awa‘a Ranch, near Mile Point 18, to Kaupulehu, near Mile Point 21, for lane striping.KAUA‘I Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., intermittent delays of no more than fifteen minutes should be expected on Kuhio Highway in both directions on Kuamo‘o Road between the highway and Lilia Place in Lihu‘e ,where highway reconstruction work in on-going until August. Traffic slowing in Anahola, near the Pili Mai Ke Kai subdivision between Anahola Road and Kukuihale Road for intersection improvements and shoulder maintenance; project to be completed in December. Traffic delays north of Kilauea Town at the Kolo Road intersection for intersection improvements; completetion date is in December. Lanes in both directions on Kuhio Highway in Lawai, east of the Piko RoadiIntersection, near Mile Post 9.8, will be narrowed for permit work on the highway. Project to be completed in late September. The speed limit in Lawai, west of the Koloa Road Intersection, ear Mile Post 10.7, has been reduced and travel lanes narrowed and shifted temporarily, for shoulder work; completion date is late September. Traffic slowing in Kalaheo, near the Hokua Road intersection, for drainage and shoulder lane improvements; completion date is late August.

The state Department of Transportation advises Maui motorists that the right-turn lane on East Ka'ahumanu Avenue in the westbound direction onto Kahului Beach Road will be closed Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for sewer line installations.
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes to Kahului Beach Road that include South Kane Street, South Papa Avenue and Kanaloa Avenue during the closure period.
The DOT also plans night roadwork on Honoapii'lani Highway in the Lahaina-bound direction from the scenic lookout (Mile Point 8.6) to the Olowalu Tunnel (Mile Point 10) Sunday night through Friday morning from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. There will be a single-lane closure nightly and traffic will be contra-flowed through the area. The closure is due to fiber optic cable installations by a contractor.
