UMAG, Croatia — Fifth-seeded Ivan Ljubicic withdrew from the Croatia Open because of back problems before his second-round match today against Roko Karanusic.

Ljubicic sought medical help on Wednesday after having back pain, and he was reportedly taken to a clinic in a wheelchair. No details of his condition were released.

Karanusic advanced to the quarterfinals.
