The University of Hawai'i is projecting to top the 25,000 figure in football season ticket sales this season and is attempting to push that higher with improvements in the student package.
"As it stands (yesterday), we have 24,164 tickets paid for (and) in the bank," said John McNamara, UH associate athletic director. "We conservatively anticipate selling 1,000 student season tickets, which would put our current projected total at 25,164," McNamara said.
UH said it sold 1,000 student season ticket last year and new sales begin Aug. 25.
UH ticket manager Walter Watanabe said UH sold 22,975 season tickets in 2007 and 18,215 in 2006.
As part of the student sales promotion, McNamara said for a $30 student season ticket UH is offering: A free Under Armour performance T-shirt with the Manoa Maniacs logo, the choice of a free Sugar Bowl T-shirt or cap and free campus buses to and from Aloha Stadium.
UH is also, for the first time, offering its students the ability to purchase season tickets online at HawaiiAthletics.com. Students will also be offered the opportunity to purchase and print individual game tickets from home.
Meanwhile, UH said it has extended to Aug. 1 the deadline by which season tickets purchasers must sign up to receive the discounted road game pay-per-view package. The deadline had been July 18th.
