Far from uncool, the popular sunglass company Dork creates pop-colored shades. "Dork is an arbitrary word. I wanted a name that was fun and not too serious," says Hale'iwa-based company founder Jim Carlos, a New Jerseyite turned Islander also known as DJ Jimbrowski. "The whole purpose behind the Dork brand is to offer people an alternative to expensive-type glasses in most streetwear boutiques. Accessories don't need to be expensive." With stylish designs like the Aviator and colors like hot pink and turquoise blue, these glasses are a perfect finish to your summer outfit. Available at Queens, 831 Queen St., 589-1102; and Exclusive Boutique, 1311 Kapi'olani Blvd., 593-9699.

NEW FROM DAN WEAVER
He's at it again sewing that is. Local fashion designer Dan Weaver, who's also been popping up on the scene as a party promoter, is gearing up for his next fashion show, Friday at The Loft.
Weaver is known for his Cut N Sewn line, a rough-edged collection of urban-meets-chic clothing. It has been almost a year since anyone has seen a complete collection from him, and this time around, he's got a new direction. "Basically I started with an American vintage inspiration, and as always extensive detail is paid to color and my love for small changes in fabric juxtaposition," he says. A collection of 25 looks including dress shirts, buttoned-down shirtdresses, skirts, high-waisted shorts and a color scheme of classic black and white are in the works. DW Fall '08 fashion show, $7-$15, The Loft, 115 Hotel St.; tickets at www.dw.bigcartel.com.
