Advertiser Staff

The funeral for Army 1st Lt. Jonathan Brostrom of 'Aiea will be Thursday at Holy Family Parish church in Honolulu, the family announced yesterday.

Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 9:30.

Burial will take place at the Hawai'i State Veterans Cemetery in Kane'ohe at about 11 a.m.

The services are open to the public.

The family has designated two charities in his honor: The Jonathan Brostrom Scholarship, through the Hawaii Chapter of Military Officers Association of America, P.O. Box 1185, Kailua, HI; and the Fisher Foundation (fisherhouse .org).

Brostrom, 24, was a 2002 Damien Memorial graduate and a University of Hawai'i graduate. He was one of nine soldiers killed in a Taliban attack in Watan, Afghanistan, in early July.
