A Don Ho birthday celebration will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 13 — his birthdate — at his namesake restaurant, Don Ho's Island Grill at Aloha Tower Marketplace.

Ho died April 14, 2007, at age 77 from heart-related problems.

Performers associated with his Waikiki show, and some show-biz stars, will join others who have won the Al Waterson and You singing contest at Don Ho's in a variety of performances.

Among those scheduled to appear: Melveen Leed, Angel Pablo, Jordan Segundo, Iva Kinimaka, Mathew Pablo, Maka'ala Perry, Jasmin Idica, Briana Pratt and Amado Cacho. More are expected to join the roster.

Waterson will emcee.

There will be no cover charge.

A range of Don Ho memorabilia — logo items, his authorized biography, CDs, DVDs, coffee mugs, and Suck 'em Up glasses — will be available for purchase.
