Kim out at U.S. junior girls golf

Marina Alex of Wayne, N.J., defeated former Big Island resident Kimberly Kim, 2 and 1, in the second round of match play yesterday of the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship at Hartford Golf Course in West Hartford, Conn.
Alex, 17, took a 3-up lead on Kim, 17, when she won the par-3 No. 11 with a birdie. Kim, who now lives in Arizona, closed Alex's lead to 1-up with consecutive wins on Nos. 13 and 14. Alex won the par-3 No. 17 with a par to take the match.
BASKETBALL
LOW SCORES 4 IN WIN
Former 'Iolani standout Derrick Low scored four points on 2 of 4 shooting last night as the Dallas Mavericks beat the Utah Jazz, 82-70, in the final game of the Rocky Mountain Revue summer league.
Low played 15 minutes, 20 seconds in the game and had one steal. He was 0 for 1 from 3-point range.
Dallas finished the season 4-2 while Utah ended 3-3.

HYSA SELECTIONS SET
The Hawai'i Youth Soccer Association is holding island district selections for its Olympic Development Program beginning next month.
ODP identifies a group of elite players in each age group (born in years 1992 to 1997) to represent at state, regional, and national competition.
