The bone discovered during an excavation at a Waikiki construction site is ancient and not from a recent incident, the Honolulu medical examiner's office said.

The bone was found Saturday at a site undisclosed by police. The medical examiner's office, after examining it by an archaeologist, turned it over to the state Historic Preservation Division to determine if the bone is Hawaiian iwi, the medical's examiner's office said.
