Hawaii-at-Florida ticket sale

Advertiser Staff

Order forms for purchasing tickets to University of Hawai'i football games at Florida and Oregon State will be available to the general public starting today.

Forms can be obtained online at www.HawaiiAthletics.com or by calling the UH Athletics Ticket Office at 956-4483.

Tickets are limited and subject to availability. A maximum of four tickets per person may be ordered.

The UH ticket office will begin processing payments next week for season-ticket holders who have already placed their orders.

The Warriors open the season at Florida on Aug. 30 and play at Oregon State on Sept. 13.

In other UH football news, the athletic department announced it has acquired all available inner circle parking stalls surrounding Aloha Stadium and the adjacent Bus Lot beginning this season. Access to those stalls will now require a designated parking pass.

Only 'Ahahui Koa Anuenue members who pay premium seat contributions of $400 or more will be eligible to purchase a pass for these areas. 'Ahahui Koa Anuenue will notify those individuals in July as to how to obtain a pass.

This acquisition could raise an additional $100,000 for the 'Ahahui Koa Anuenue scholarship program that benefits all student-athletes.

The remaining Upper and Lower Halawa Lots, and Kam Lot — approximately 4,500 stalls — will not be affected by this plan. These lots will remain available to the public.

POPE EARNS AWARD

Lahainaluna senior Jack Pope is the winner of the inaugural Duke Kahanamoku Ambassador of Aloha Scholarship. The $10,000 scholarship is given by the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Foundation. Pope will receive it at the annual Mahalo Lunch in July, where the foundation recognizes all its college scholarship and athletic grant winners.

The scholarship was established to honor Kahanamoku's legacy and "reward an outstanding college-bound Hawai'i high school senior who embodies the spirit and character that made Duke such a beloved figure in Hawai'i and around the world."

Pope dominated the 200 and 500 freestyle events at the last three state high school championships. He has won 20 age-group races in Hawai'i state swimming championships since 2005. He also has a 3.4 grade point average and will attend University of the Pacific. Community service includes tutoring fourth grade students and working at Waihee Refuge.
