Donations accepted to help protect Turtle Bay
The Trust for Public Land has launched a $5 million campaign to assist in the protection of Turtle Bay Resort property.
Donations will go toward funding the voluntary conservation sale, acquisition and stewardship of the resort and its surrounding properties, including 850 acres on the coast and more than 400 acres of mauka land, according to the trust's Web site.
The trust is working in conjunction with Gov. Linda Lingle, who has organized a working group that is developing a plan to acquire and preserve the land.
If the state is unable to acquire Turtle Bay any gift will be used by TPL to fund the protection of other significant lands on O'ahu's North Shore.
