Volleyball honors for Miyashiro

Tamari Miyashiro, a 2005 Kalani graduate and former All-State player, was named to the all-tournament team at the recent U.S. Adult Open Championships in Atlanta.
Miyashiro's Huskies Volleyball Club lost to the USA Red Team in the women's Open final. Miyashiro will be a junior on the University of Washington team in the fall.
Rusty Wahine, a team of former University of Hawai'i players, went 2-4 in pool play.
The USA Red team is half the USA Volleyball High Performance Team. UH's Jamie Houston played for USA Blue, the other half, which won the bronze-medal match.
TENNIS
SCHOLARSHIP FOR SATO
'Iolani School senior Braxton Sato, from Kane'ohe, is one of 37 students nationwide to receive a $6,000 college scholarship from the USTA Tennis & Education Foundation.
The foundation awards scholarships annually to high school seniors who have "excelled academically, demonstrated community service and participated in an organized tennis program."
COACHES CAMP SET
University of Hawai'i men's coach John Nelson and Brigham Young-Hawai'i coach Dave Porter are the featured instructors at the High Performance Training and Coaches Camp, June 10 to 13 at Tripler tennis courts. Cost is $110 per day or $400 for the four-day program.
Subjects include footwork, singles and doubles tactics and drills, video comparisons, technique, the mental and physical games and tactics.
FOOTBALL
OFFICIALS SOUGHT
The Hawai'i Football Officials Association is looking for officials for the upcoming season.
The association will hold a membership meeting and open house on June 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Saint Louis Alumni Association in Mo'ili'ili.
The meeting is open to prospective officials and experience isn't necessary. Future meetings will be held on July 1 and every Tuesday starting July 15.

SOCCER
HAWAI'I CLUBS MERGE
Hawaii Rush Soccer Club and Real Hawaii Futbol Club have merged to create the Real Hawaii Rush Soccer Club.
The club will be a member of Rush Soccer, which represents 21 states and more than 33,000 youth players nationwide.
Real Hawaii Rush Soccer Club will be under the direction of technical director Arian Hoxha and assistant technical director Sean Richardson.
