History: The church began in 1951 with Sunday school classes held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wayland Campbell. Rapid growth of the Sunday school and a desire to start a Christian Day School moved the congregation to build a small classroom adjoining the chapel. In 1956, Saint Mark Lutheran School opened to a dozen kindergarteners. The school expanded the next year to include kindergarten through third grade. Three years later, the school had 70 students and in 1969 the school expanded and added seventh and eighth grades.
