Water main work to affect N. Shore
Advertiser Staff
The Honolulu Board of Water Supply last night advised North Shore residents from Pupukea to Kuilima to conserve water through today because of repair work on a broken 16-inch main.
Residents may experience low water pressure as a result of the 3:30 p.m. main break on the shoulder of Kamehameha Highway, about 200 feet beyond the bridge heading toward Pupukea, agency spokeswoman Moani Wright-Van Alst said. There were no road closures.
E. KILAUEA URGED TO CONSERVE WATER
Kaua'i County's Department of Water is urging East Kilauea residents to conserve water due to current dry conditions and anticipated heavy demand during the summer.
There has been a significant increase in water usage from East Kilauea households on Wailapa and Huli roads, Waiakalua and North Waiakalua streets, Ko'olau and Kapuna roads, and Kuhio Highway from Wailapa to Kapuna roads, officials said.
Tank levels are low despite pumps operating at capacity.

REPAIRS WILL CLOSE MAUI STATE LANDS
The Kula state forest reserve and Polipoli State Park will be closed Monday through Wednesday and again June 16-20 for repairs to the forest access road, the state Department of Land & Natural Resources said yesterday.
The reserve will be open for public use on weekends.
"These closure periods are needed to ensure public safety while we repair damaged portions of the road that were impacted by our fire suppression efforts in January 2007 and by flood damage in December 2007," said Laura H. Thielen, DLNR chairwoman.
