Hawaiian Airlines, benefiting from the March 31 shutdown of Aloha Airlines, said its passenger count increased by 26.2 percent last month.
The state's largest carrier said it flew a total of 740,865 passengers in May, which was up from 587,017 in the year-earlier month.
Hawaiian, which expanded its interisland and trans-Pacific service as a result of Aloha's closing, said its planes were 85.7 percent full in May, which was down slightly from 86.6 percent in the same month last year.
