Honolulu's Hard Rock Cafe — along with cafes across the Mainland, Canada and Europe — will celebrate the restaurant's 1971 founders' day with a Burger Badge Bash on Saturday. For 71 cents, police, firefighters, emergency medical technicians and other civil servants can get their hands on a 10-ounce Hard Rock Legendary Burger. Bring proper ID and badge to verify eligibility. The offer is valid only for dining-in customers, and is limited to one burger per person. GATHERING FOR GOURMANDS THIS WEEK
The Kahala Hotel & Resort hosts its inaugural Kahala Food & Wine Classic on Friday and Saturday.
The two-day event, hosted by Kahala's chef Wayne Hirabayashi and his culinary team, will feature: chef Cindy Hutson, owner of Miami's Ortanique on the Mile; chef Amy E. Ferguson, owner of O's Bistro on the Big Island; Jim Clendenen, winemaker and owner of Au Bon Climat and Clendenen Family Vineyards in California; and Michael A, Herklots, general manager of Davidoff of Geneva in New York City. Fred Schrader, co-founder of the cult classic Colgin-Schrader Cellars and producer of a portfolio of world-class wines, will serve as master of ceremonies.
