Volleyball: FIVB to vote on 2 extra players

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Volleyball's governing body proposed a new rule Sunday that would allow teams to suit up two extra players.
The move to increase match squads from 12 to 14 players — including two for the libero position — will be voted on by delegates from more than 200 countries at the FIVB Congress that starts Monday in Dubai.
Six players are on court with coaches allowed to use a libero as a specialist replacement on defense.
The proposal was made by the FIVB executive committee and could come into force immediately. It would not apply to the Olympics tournament in Beijing in August.
