GOING VEGAS
New resort taking reservations

By Anthony Curtis

Las Vegas' next new resort isn't scheduled to open till the end of this year, but it's already taking room reservations for dates beginning Jan. 1, 2009. North Las Vegas' Aliante Station will have 202 rooms and suites that range from 400 to 1,500 square feet, with amenities that include 42-inch plasma TVs, in-room audio entertainment systems and high-speed Internet. Room rates start at $60; call 877-477-7627.

HOOTERS STAYS: At least for now, that is. The deal to sell the casino has been terminated, which means the Hooters theme isn't going away for the time being. The owners have indicated they will assess the situation to determine whether they "continue to operate under current ownership, look at another sale or expand the property."

NEW TOURNEY: A new live blackjack tournament has kicked off at Sunset Station. Entry fee is $25 and there's a guaranteed $2,000 first-place prize for the Thursday-night tournaments (beginning at 6 p.m.) that use the "Elimination" format that was played last year on CBS' "Ultimate Blackjack Tour."

NO BET: If you're coming to town and want to bet on the NBA Championship, don't try to do it at a Harrah's casino. The games are off the board at all Harrah's properties, due to CEO Gary Loveman's small ownership stake in the Celtics.

TWO-DOLLAR HEINIES: The Gold Coast is serving Heineken beer in the bottle for $2. The offer is good all day at all bars in June.

Q. I'm a big soccer fan. Are any sports books broadcasting the Euro 2008 soccer games?

A. Some will, but probably not on set schedules. If you want to catch 'em all, look to the two Crown & Anchor locations and the newly refurbished Fadó Irish Pub. They're screening the tournament live, without a cover charge.
