Kula state reserve reopens Saturday

Maui's Kula state forest reserve and Polipoli state park, closed this week through Friday for repairs to the one-lane access road, will be reopened Saturday at 6 a.m., according to the Department of Land & Natural Resources.
Work was completed last week widen a cement crossing and repair a headwall, DLNR officials said today. The $249,000 improvement project is part of a two-year effort to restore damaged areas in the forest reserve. Work is expected to be completed by June 30.
Traffic delays of an hour or longer should be expected on Saturday, officials said.
Road advisory signs will be posted along Waipoli Road and at the entrance to Skyline Trail at the summit of Haleakala.
