DHT ready to go 'Over the Rainbow' with 'Oz'

Kalia Medeiros will be Dorothy Gale, the Judy Garland role, when Diamond Head Theatre presents its season finale, "The Wizard of Oz," starting July 11.
Other principals are Justin Hashimoto as the Scarecrow /Hunk, Daniel Lloyd Pias as the Tin Man/Hickory, Larry Bialock as the Lion/Zeke, Paul Mitri as the Wizard/ Professor Marvel, Kathleen Sulieman as the Wicked Witch/Miss Gulch, Megan DeBoard as Aunt Em/Glinda, and Fedrico Biven as Uncle Henry/Emerald City Guard.
A pooch named Maile will be Toto.
The popular musical, about a Kansas girl who discovers that there's no place like home, is based on the iconic film and features adorable Munchkins as well as a Wicked Witch.
Dorothy dreams of what lies over the rainbow and a twister carriers her farm and her dog to the land of Oz. In her quest to find the Emerald City, she encounters a Scarecrow who needs a brain, a Tin Man who wants a heart and a Cowardly Lion who desperately needs courage.
The score boasts such classic tunes as "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," "Ding-Dong The Witch Is Dead," "Munchkinland", "Off to See the Wizard" and "If I Only Had a Heart."
Rob Duval is directing, John Rampage is choreographing, and Peter Rucci will conduct the orchestra.
Performances will be at 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and 4 p.m. Sundays, through July 27, with additional 3 p.m. matinees on July 19 and 26.
Tickets are $12 to $42, with discounts available for full time students, seniors 62 and older, and active duty military.
